Auditions for people interested in becoming a professional circus artist will be held later this month in Prahran.
Officials from The National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) are currently on the road, travelling to Australian cities, where sessions are being conducted for aspiring circus acts to showcase their talents and creativity and hopefully secure a place in the coveted circus arena.
NICA is the only nationally recognised arts training organisation that offers a Bachelor of Circus Arts. Acceptance onto the degree programme can only be gained after a successful audition, followed by an interview and a complete medical evaluation. The course is accredited by Swinburne University of Technology. Organisations may use flyer or poster printing to advertise their services.
Places at NICA are in high demand from Australia’s pool of talented performers and also draws a lot of interest from overseas applicants. Acceptance into NICA is highly competitive and only available to artists with exceptional talent and high levels of physical ability.
In the past, graduates from NICA have been able to secure positions with well-known national and international organisations such as Cirque du Soleil, Cavalia (Canada), NoFit State Circus (United Kingdom), Dragone (China), Circus Oz and Carnival Australia.
Auditions will be held on Wednesday 25th September between 9am and 5pm at the NICA National Circus Centre. Only applicants who have applied on the NICA website will be accepted.
