The popular and stylish Prince Maximilian Hotel in Prahran will be offering an art exhibition showcasing artists working in a range of different genres. The enterprise is called the ‘Pub Art Hub’ and founder Helen Pollard said:
"The Publican Gallery was born from the idea of breaking away from the norm of displaying my artwork in a gallery. Entry into exhibitions and galleries can be expensive and I wanted to develop a concept whereby members of the public can embrace all styles of art under one roof. What better setting then a pub to enjoy the talent that Melbourne artists have to offer."
The artists who are currently showing at the Pub Art Hub are painter Amelia Lackmann, figurative painter Kylie Baudino, photographer Shannon Boh and cartoonist Brett Willis. The use of catalogue printing has produced a brochure in order to peruse of copy of the works.
As well as the exhibition inside the pub, these artists worked on an installation outside the hotel. This public art installation revealed the artists in action and gave the general public an insight into their creative process.
The cartoonist Brett Willis is presenting StonningTOON which is a collection of caricatures of local celebrities who live or work in the area of Stonnington. This collection features Matt Preston (from Masterchef), comedian Rachel Berger and, in a real coup for the exhibition, Olivia Newton John.
The exhibition runs until the end of January.
