The beats come to Essendon
In mid-June, Avenue Records will be launching their three new debut music artists at an evening concert in Essendon.
The Avenue is a record label overseen by the Moonee Valley Youth Services committee that supports aspiring local artists between the ages of 12 to 25. Developed in 2014 as a platform to help local musicians and bands develop their careers, the company signed its first three acts in 2015.
This year's recruits include metal band Cyanide Teeth, pop band Old Street and solo hip-hop artist Camdogg. They will be performing their EPs on 18 June at the Ukrainian Hall, with established Australian artists Story the Sky from Melbourne, Trophy Eye from Newcastle and Luca Brasi from Tasmania.
Coordinators of events like this often use the services of a print company to advertise them. Mayor Cr Andrea Surace said that it is a starting point for something bigger and better to come, saying:
The label is always seeking new talent and anyone looking to professionally record their own original songs should contact it. Last year's successful applicants received a demo pack that included photos, a bio, a music video and a debut live performance.

“Through this program, Council has given these talented acts free access to recording studio facilities to help them find their sound and produce their music, and this live gig supported by popular headline acts will introduce their music to a whole new audience.”
