Essendon residents invited to fundraising festival

Residents of Essendon are invited to attend the 2020 Melbourne Pasifika Festival and Charity Walk, which is scheduled to take place this December.

Plenty of Pasifika culture will be on display throughout the day, with arts and crafts, traditional food, dancers, live music and plenty of activities for the kids.

All the funds from the charity walk will be used to support the Pacific Islands through humanitarian projects aimed at local women that seek to provide opportunities for employment and education to allow them to support their families.

Projects that will be supported by this year’s event include scholarship funds, micro finance and loans, which allow women to borrow start-up costs of small businesses, and sewing centres that provide employment and economic support for women in the Solomon Islands.

There is a short walk of 1km suitable for children and a longer 5km circuit around Footscray Park. The costs to enter the walk are as follows: students, $30, single walker, $40, two walkers, $75, four walkers, $150 and six walkers, $215. Children aged under 12 enjoy free entry to the walk and the festival.

Festival organisers will often use poster printing services in the lead-up to the event to advertise in prominent locations.

The festival will take place at Footscray Park on Saturday, December 5 – check-in will open at 10am and the charity walk will begin at 10.30am. For more information, see the Monee Valley Council website.
