Aspiring vocalists urged to join top class ensemble

Full-voiced women with a passion for making music are being urged to join the Grace Notes Singers in Essendon, Victoria.

The choir, which is made up of former Essendon students, was formed two years ago by vocal coach Felicity Baldock and conductor Jan Goodall.

Ms. Goodall said the inspiration to start the choir was sparked by a desire to provide an avenue for girls who had sung in school to continue their singing aspirations in a women’s choir.

She said her aim was to provide an opportunity for them to keep singing quality music in a top class ensemble.

The chorus of sopranos sings everything from soul and pop, to vocal presentations sung in a range of languages.

Ms. Goodall said she is keen to welcome new singers to the line-up, which currently stands at 20 members and has invited women who can read music, had previous choir or group experience and love to sing to apply.

Current members represent a wide range of interests and professions. They include career women, university students, young mothers, businesswomen and retirees.

The Grace Notes Singers performances have already been advertised on poster printing promotions for local events and Ms. Goodall believes it is just the beginning for the choir which shares a common desire to sing together.

Rehearsals are held weekly in Essendon.
