Epping residents can enjoy plenty of country fun this weekend, when the annual Whittlesea Show takes place.
The show, organised by the Whittlesea Agricultural Society, is now in its 154th year and is one of the area’s most popular events.
There is something for everyone over the weekend, including animal shows and live music. Children can enjoy the animal nursery, where they can get close to some cute farm animals, and a visit to the Merri Creek Management Committee’s bug spotting stall.
A vintage machinery display will appeal to those with an interest in vehicles of all kinds, while creative visitors will enjoy browsing the art and craft displays.
Animal competitions are set to involve cattle, sheep and alpacas, and the show also has competitions in a number of other categories, including photography and garden produce. Visitors on Saturday afternoon can watch competitors try to create an authentic Australian ‘dunny’ in an hour or less.
There is still time to enter many of the competitions, including the toilet building challenge. Printing services may have been called upon to create the event’s special programme, which has details of all the competitions and activities taking place.
The show will be happening at the Whittlesea Showgrounds across Saturday and Sunday. The gates are open from 9:00am to 5:00pm each day. On Friday, part of the show jumping competition will be held in the afternoon and entry for this is free. For more information, visit the Whittlesea Agricultural Society website.
