Business centres near Epping are receiving streetscape upgrades to help revitalise their shopping precincts.
Thomastown and Lalor are set to experience a renewed buzz from the upgrades, which will help to transform the central shopping areas into more active and inviting community spaces.
Modernisation is taking place in Lalor's May Road and David Street, where road access is being updated, new paving is being installed and walkways are being made safer, as well as the addition of new landscaping to enhance the area's aesthetic appeal.
Works are also currently underway on the upgrade of streetscapes between Pleasant and Highland Roads in Thomastown. The works programme includes the installation of bins, bike racks, seats, new paving and pedestrian crossings, as well as a new public space to be established at the site of the war memorial across the road from Thomastown Primary School.
Upgrades such as these, which revitalise areas and create exciting new spaces, have often been featured on Promotional Products used to attract potential new customers into the shopping zones.
Chair Administrator of Whittlesea City Lydia Wilson recently met some of the local traders in the Thomastown and Lalor shopping precincts, who showed great appreciation for the upgrades. She said the streetscape works will make shopping in the local area more enjoyable and much easier due to the safe, inviting open spaces being created.
The Australian and Victorian Governments have supported Whittlesea City in delivering the Thomastown and Lalor streetscape upgrades.
