Newcomers urged to attend Welcome Expo

New residents of Epping and the City of Whittlesea are being urged to attend a Welcome Expo to find out what is available in the community.

Mayor Ricky Kirkham encouraged all newcomers to attend the event, saying it will provide an ideal opportunity to learn more about the local Council and the many community services available. He explained:

“We know we have some 8,000 people moving to the City of Whittlesea each year and it can be quite daunting for people to find ways to connect.”

He said events such as the Welcome Expo will help them settle in and feel a part of the community much quicker.

The day will provide many opportunities to meet other people who are new to the area, as well as to enjoy entertainment by The Connies, snacks, tea and coffee, and a photo booth. There will also be a Sorry Day Walk.

Flyer printing has been undertaken to ensure plenty of information on local services is easily accessible. The services include volunteering, sports and leisure, safety and emergency services, sustainability and waste, employment, and health.

The Welcome Expo event will be held in the Great Hall at Council Offices in South Morang on October 5 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Mayor Kirkham said bookings are available or newcomers can just turn up on the day.
