New childcare facilities planned for Epping

The Epping area will get a new early childhood education centre in the next two years, thanks to funding from

the State Government.

The State Government will contribute $1.6million to the new Farmhouse Child and Family Centre in Epping North. The City of Whittlesea council will contribute nearly $3million to the project.

The facility is scheduled to open in 2016 and will provide more than 200 extra childcare places for the local area.

Once the centre has been built, flyer printing could be a cost effective way of advertising the new facility and its benefits to families and children.

City of Whittlesea Mayor Mary Lalios said the new facilities were badly needed and that partnerships with the State Government were vital. She said:

“As one of the fastest growing municipalities in Australia, we have experienced a significant increase in the demand for kindergarten, particularly over the past five years. When it comes to meeting future demand there is much work to be done and we can’t achieve it on our own."

Five new kindergarten rooms have already opened including one in Epping this year. Another new centre will open in South Morang in 2016 also built with council and State Government funding and four new kindergartens are due to open at the start of the school year in 2015, including the Aurora Community Activity Centre in Epping North.
