Epping businesses should receive a boost next month, with Whittlesea’s council encouraging shoppers to take part in Support Small Business Day.
The initiative is backed by the Victorian Government and organised by Small Business Victoria, which works with small and medium-sized enterprises to improve business practices and increase sales.
It aims to improve the number of people using local companies rather than shopping at large, out-of-town malls or online.
Epping business owners can get involved with the scheme by registering online to be featured in the shopping directory. Registered shops are also promoted on social media in the lead up to the day.
Local stores could also use poster printing as a cost effective way of advertising their participation, either by using the designs provided by the organisers or by creating their own layout. Posters could also advertise special offers available on the day.
Support Small Business Day takes place on Saturday, October 4th, but business owners should think about registering soon and starting their promotional campaign to make sure shoppers know they are taking part.
As well as help for businesses, the event also offers shoppers the chance to win by entering competitions, including a challenge to photograph a favourite local storefront. Prizes include gift cards to be spent in participating stores.
