Community groups from around Whittlesea can apply for the latest round of development grants this month.
Applications for the Community Development Grants programme are invited from groups based anywhere in the City of Whittlesea, including Epping.
The grants can be used to fund projects and events and the money can be used for any aspect of the project.
This could include paying a professional printing company to create information packages or promotional material for an event.
Groups eligible to apply include sports clubs, self-help groups, and not for profit cultural or recreational groups that work with locals.
Grants of a maximum $5,000 will be awarded to each successful applicant. Last year, more than $130,000 worth of funding was given to 38 projects, including a cancer support group’s cooking programme for men who had lost partners to the disease, a resource library for parents of children with autism, and a community vegetable garden.
Groups thinking of applying might like to attend one of the information sessions arranged by the Council for help with their application. These will take place on Tuesday, April 14 between 9.30 am and 11:00 am and on Wednesday, April 15 between 6.30 pm and 8:00 pm at the council offices in South Morang.
Applications open on April 20 and close on June 1. To apply, visit the City of Whittlesea Council website.
