The ‘First Time Home Buyers’ report compiled by the Westpac bank shows Epping is among the top 10 suburbs in Melbourne for buyers looking for their first home.
The report looked at people eligible for the First Home Owner Grant, a government scheme which offers a $10,000 payment to first-time buyers if they meet certain criteria, and found that Melbourne’s northern suburbs were a popular choice.
Westpac’s head of retail and banking products, Andy Kerr, told the Leader newspaper group that areas such as Epping were often chosen because of the investment in infrastructure and transport being made in these areas, which could increase house values in the future. He said:
“First-home buyers are seeing the growth potential of northern suburbs like Epping, which are developing some of the benefits and amenities of inner Melbourne living with more space and without the price tag”
The news could be good for anyone thinking of selling their property in Epping, who could use flyer printing or poster printing to advertise a house for sale privately rather than going through a real estate agent.
Local agent Nick Michaels told the newspaper that there had been an increase in entry-level sales during the past year and that property prices were rising in the area.
