Epping train station gets extra parking

Fresh parking spaces are being added to Epping rail station as part of a wider transport strategy.

Epping is just one of the train stations set to benefit from extra parking spaces, and a $60m sum has been allocated to the project. The state government is keen to improve the transport infrastructure by investing in access for pedestrians, with cycle storage is another priority, meaning Print shops near efficient transport hubs may experience more demand.

Daniel Andrews, the Premier of Victoria, said:

“It’s frustrating to turn up at a station car park in the morning and find it already full – that’s why we’re building thousands of new car spaces to make it easier for people to get where they need to go. We’re making sure more people can get a park at their local train station and that stations are safe and easy to access.”

Craigieburn, Epping, Sandown Park and Belgrave will all gain from the upgrade. At the moment, there are 160 parking spaces within the vicinity of Belgrave. The creation of a new car park will result in room for 470 extra vehicles.

The Belgrave parking expansion is based on a study conducted during the course of 2017. In recent years, the government has focused on parking consistently, which has had an impact on the provision or maintenance of almost 3,000 spaces in three years.
