Council acts to help boost commercial sector

Companies considering opening up a new business in Epping are now able to gain valuable information from a newly introduced investment prospectus.

The City of Whittlesea has released ‘The right place for business’ to help attract new investors into the area, effectively building on those whose Business Cards reflect a strong base in the region.

The aim, according to Mayor Lawrie Cox, is to boost business activity and generate 10,000 more job opportunities by 2024. Already, the initiative has attracted upward of 85 important stakeholders from developers, commercial real estate, education and industry.

Taking positive steps such as providing and implementing the investment prospectus is important for the future growth and prosperity of the area, according to the mayor who added:

“Our population is expected to grow from 223,566 to 377,033 by 2040. As one of the fastest growing municipalities in Australia, the need for us to support existing businesses and create more employment opportunities is critical for economic prosperity.

He said among the goals outlined in ‘Whittlesea 2040: A Place for All’ as a long-term plan was the need to establish a local economy that is strong and can be sustained in the future.

Businesses that would like to establish a base in the city are urged to contact the City of Whittlesea’s Economic Development department.
