Congestion relief as new road connection opens

Residents of Epping and across Whittlesea City are set to benefit from the extension of Edgars Road between O'Herns Road and Cooper Street, Epping.

Completed recently, the important road connection was expediently delivered via a partnership between Whittlesea City and MAB Corporation to ease the congestion being experienced on Epping Road, Cooper Street, Miller Street and High Street.

The link, which extends one kilometre provides much easier transport access to residential sectors in Wollert and Epping North, alleviating the once consistent daily congestion experienced.

According to Whittlesea's Environment and Infrastructure Director Debbie Wood, the fast-tracking of the project to construct the road was well received by residents, and she added:

“We know traffic congestion is an issue in our City, particularly in our growth areas, which is why we’re prioritising and advocating for a connected road network to get residents where they need to be faster and safer.”

Wood said the road connection would effectively provide local families and other residents with easier access to local services, schools and work.

Changes to transport routes such as this are often publicised via media and flyer printing campaigns in the local area.

Meanwhile, the Edgars Road and O'Herns Road intersection is set to open in conjunction with the upgrade project being undertaken by the State Government at O'Herns Road. Completion is expected later this year.
