City to host new farmers market

Epping residents will be among many people living within the City of Whittlesea to have an opportunity to experience the area’s first farmers and makers market.

To be held in South Morang, the event gained the thumbs up on the Facebook page of Whittlesea Council with its details being shared in excess of 300 times and the topic achieving a 31,000-strong readership. Such events have often been promoted via the use of flyer printing.

The market’s launch has generated a positive community response, according to Mayor Lawrie Cox who said some of the tastiest and freshest local produce could be found locally. He added:

“The market will be a great opportunity to get to know some of the great farmers, producers and artists in the area. Farmers markets are extremely popular in Victoria and it’s exciting to be able to bring one to the City of Whittlesea.”


He said locals who are take the opportunity to check out the new South Morang Farmers and Makers market can look forward to a fabulous array of quality handmade products, fresh local produce, kids’ activities and live music.

The first market is set to be held not far from the South Morang railway station on May 18 with subsequent events scheduled on a monthly basis each third Saturday within the car park of the City of Whittlesea Civic Centre.
