Business advice on offer for future leaders

Young entrepreneurs from Epping are being encouraged to apply for a new business training programme.

The Getting Down to Business initiative has been launched by the Victorian Government to help young people develop business ideas and potentially run their own companies.

The scheme is open to people aged between 16 and 25-years-old and can be adapted to fit around current schedules of work or study. Applicants must either already run a company or have a significant role in a family company, or have an idea for a business that they would like to develop.

Running from March to November, the programme will include one-on-one mentoring, hands-on experience and training on all aspects of how to set up and run a successful business.

The course includes presentation days, where participants can pitch their ideas for a product or service and get feedback from industry experts, help to develop a business plan and lessons teaching business and management skills, as well as discussion groups with other course members.

There will also be a number of networking opportunities, so successful applicants might like to think about professional business card printing or Stationery printing to help create the right image for their project.

Just 40 people will be selected for the scheme each year, with applications being assessed by a panel of business leaders and government representatives.

Applications must be submitted by Friday February 21st and the first session will be held at the end of March. For more details and to apply via the online application form, visit www.enterprisingpartnerships.com.au/getting-down-to-business
