Town hall to host exhibition

An exhibition that celebrates the kindness of strangers in almost impossible situations is to be featured at Broadmeadows Town Hall.

Fired Up is an exhibition that has been set up to honour the spirit of a nation following the inferno that destroyed lives, homes and wildlife in the 2019/2020 Black Summer fires.

Among its many highlights, according to a council spokesperson, will be a brief documentary film, together with photographs, which are the work of the Community Liaison Team of the Federal Police (CLT). It will be presented in partnership with Blueprint Studios, Human Appeal and the Australian Islamic Centre (AIC). The film relays the AIC volunteers’ stories, which saw them travel to zones devastated by fire and provide much-needed supplies to those in critical need throughout the communities.

The exhibition also reflects the mateship and gratitude of those affected through a number of insightful interviews. Many of those interviewed conveyed their feeling of being forgotten and how COVID-19 and robbed them of the chance to grieve and take new steps forward.

Exhibitions featuring major events such as the Black Summer fires have often been widely promoted via poster printing campaigns and the media due to their great interest within the community. This major exhibition will be held at the Town Hall on Dimboola Road from March 15 to June 6, 2021.
