Those living in the vicinity of Broadmeadows can enjoy an evening of classical music with both new and old offerings.
The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) has commissioned new work that needs a musical airing. This includes two pieces by the MSO’s 2026 Composer in Residence, Joe Chindamo.
Also awarded the Order of Australia for service to music in 2022, Chindamo’s creations during his residency to date are Fantasie auf Nachtmusik, along with his newest piece, the Flute Concerto. This will be premiering in October and be played by accomplished flautist Eliza Shephard, who will have an additional role as a presenter on the evening.
Chindamo’s Fantasie auf Nachtmusik has drawn inspiration from Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, and therefore a composition by Mozart is included in the program, which is the lesser-known Symphony No. 36 in C major, Linz: IV. Presto.
Natalie Chee will also feature on violin and as musical director. Chee is the recently appointed Concertmaster of the MSO.

MSO in your Neighbourhood: Glenroy is taking place on Thursday, 22 October at 7.30 pm. The venue is Glenroy College Performing Arts Centre, which can be found at 120 Glenroy Road, Glenroy. Tickets cost $10 for those over 12. The performance lasts approximately an hour with no interval.
