What's Happening in Broadmeadows, VIC…

Live community Christmas events make a comeback

Broadmeadows residents will be among many within Hume City to receive a boost in Christmas cheer with the return of major celebrations including Carols by Candlelight.

Among a raft of annual festive events put on hold during the Covid pandemic are the carols, which this year will be hosted by Hugh Sheridan. The event will be live from ANZAC Park in Craigieburn on 3 December and will host all the regular highlights, including fireworks, Santa's visit and an array of activities to be enjoyed by all ages.

Mayor of Hume, Joseph Haweil said that it was exciting to be able to host the in-person carols event for the first time since 2019, adding:

“Christmas in Hume is all about celebrating alongside our wonderful community and I can’t wait to share the festive spirit with locals right across our great city.”

He said many other great festive treats would also be returning this year, including the Christmas lights contest which offers $4000 worth of giveaways to participating businesses and residents.

Broadmeadows will be one of eight locations of outside Christmas trees and its Civic Plaza will also host an immersive LED light display. A pop-up 30-day events calendar will include everything from festive crafts and arts to concerts and pool parties. In the past, many local activities have been promoted through strategic flyer printing campaigns. Carols by Candlelight will be held from 5pm to 9.30pm on 3 December.
