Council to throw street party in Broadmeadows

The Hume City Council acknowledges the cultural diversity within its city limits, and in celebration of these differences, the annual Broadmeadows Street Festival is set to return in April.

Residents and visitors are invited to Tanderrum Way, where numerous activities will tantalise their senses. This will include foods flavours from across the globe, live music and creative performances, a variety of market stalls, and carnival rides for children.

The highlight of the event will culminate in a colourful firework display that will delight attendees. The Broadmeadows Street Festival promises to be an afternoon of entertainment that caters for everyone.

In order to encourage more community groups to showcase their unique talents, the Hume City Council has created the Broadmeadows Street Festival Grant. This offers funding to community groups who apply within the time frame to cover production and development costs of performances, art projects, food demonstrations or any craft displays that will benefit the event. Although applications for this year’s festival have now closed, communities can benefit from this knowledge for future festivals.

Event planners use various tactics to advertise festivals and create public awareness of upcoming events. The use of flyer printing is one such method that is successfully used.

The Broadmeadows Street Festival is taking place on Sunday 5th April from 1pm-7pm. Further information for this free event can be found on the Hume City Council website.
