What's Happening in Broadmeadows, VIC…

Call to help showcase diversity in Hume

There is still time for Broadmeadows’ groups and businesses to register their interest in highlighting the area’s diversity at a special celebration.

The Lights of Culture Festival is held in March and reflects the number of different ethnic groups living in the Hume City area.

The event includes live music and dance performances, as well as cultural workshops and craft demonstrations along with children’s activities. Visitors can also try a range of food from different countries.

Popular with local families, around 2500 people are expected to attend this year.

Hume City Council is still inviting applications from local organisations and businesses that would like to be involved in the festival.

Commercial applications can be made for craft stalls for homemade items, or companies selling goods or services, while not-for-profit organisations can apply to run a fundraising stall selling goods or running an activity such as a raffle, or a display stall to promote their work.

If successful, stallholders could use flyer printing to advertise their activities and products with leaflets being handed out by volunteers at the event.

The festival will be held on Saturday, March 21st in Broadmeadows Town Park from midday to 9pm. Applications for stalls can be made via the Hume City Council website, and must be received by 5pm on Friday, February 27th.
