The Broadmeadows Central Shopping Centre has become the newest member of the Vicinity Group to go solar, with over 6,000 solar PV panels now installed on its rooftop.
Vicinity’s General Manager Energy and Commercial, Renae Sambrooks said that the new installation is another demonstration of its commitment and investment in renewable energy. He further commented that innovation such as solar will deliver equal value that can be shared between customers, investors, retailers and the community.
The 2.1 megawatts of power generated by the solar panels is already in operation with Centre Manager, Jeroam Whittington saying he was excited that Broadmeadows Central would be playing its part in supporting retailers and the wider community.
He said the solar program was inspiring the whole team in thinking about new ways of dealing with not only renewable energy but also waste management. Members of the community interested in solar installations may make use of brochure printing or Flyers to distribute information regarding green initiatives.
The Vicinity Group has a 2019 target of 31 megawatts. With the addition of the Broadmeadows Shopping Centre, the annual output hoped to be achieved will be 48,500 MWh, which will generate enough power for 8,300 average sized Victorian homes.
The national program includes a number of innovative solutions and firsts for the retail sector including the first retail battery in Australia.Get a Free Quote for Flyers
