Yarra residents to network over breakfast

Business owners from Abbotsford have the chance to network, enjoy some good food and get advice from a retail expert this week at Yarra Council’s latest business networking breakfast.

The event’s guest speaker will be Tom O’Toole, founder of Beechworth Bakery. Mr O’Toole started with just one small bakery in a rural Victorian town with just two employees. Now the business has six stores throughout Victoria and New South Wales, employs more than 100 full and part-time staff, and has a turnover of more than $14million each year. It has won several marketing and business awards.

As well as running the bakery business, Mr O’Toole works as a motivational speaker helping others to develop their ideas. He will share some of the secrets of his success as well as giving practical advice on how other company owners can develop their businesses and motivate their staff at the event.

The breakfast will also be a good opportunity to network and make contact with other business owners in the Yarra region with more than 8,000 firms operating in the area. It is important to get business card printing up to date before the event to ensure new contacts can be given current details. Networking will only be effective if an encounter is remembered and contact details are noted.

The event will be held on Thursday at Abbotsford Convent in St Heliers Street and starts at 6.45am. A hot breakfast will be provided. Those looking to book a place can contact Yarra Council or book online through the council’s website.
