Abbotsford to host experimental Colombian musical artist

Those in the Abbotsford area who are interested in innovative music might find Lucrecia Dalt of interest.

Dalt is playing in Abbotsford as part of the WinterLIVE series. Born in Colombia, her initial career was as a civil engineer for a Medellin geotechnical organisation. While here, Dalt became enamoured of computer-based music production, which subsequently changed her life’s direction.

For almost 20 years, Dalt’s experimental work with a surrealist slant has earned her both solo and collaborative projects. Her 2022 album ¡Ay! was praised by The Wire and also earned favourable recognition from The New York Times and Pitchfork.

Dalt’s work has also featured in film scores. Her album A Danger to Ourselves was released in 2025. A recent review stated:
“Colombian experimentalist Lucrecia Dalt crafts nocturnal music indebted to the unsettling landscapes of surrealist cinema.”

Dalt will be ably supported by Sydney musicians Liam Keenan and J.WLSN. Their work is complementary in that it is atmospheric and pre-occupied with resonance, sound and place.
