Schools around the City of Yarra are being encouraged to get involved with Ride2School Day this year.
The national event is organised by the Bicycle Network, which seeks to increase the number of people across Australia riding for pleasure and as part of their commute to work or school.
Last year, 19 schools across the City of Yarra took part and the council is hoping this year’s event will be just as successful.
Once a school has registered, poster printing is a great way to advertise the event to families, and the community and schools can also access special promotional material, including Posters and stickers to help them promote the day.
The City of Yarra Council is also expanding its commitment to encouraging children to walk or ride to school by piloting a Walk or Wheel Once a Week programme. Four schools, including St John’s Primary School in Clifton Hill, will take part in the scheme initially.
Each school will pick one day a week during the first two terms when children will be encouraged to be active on their route to school and record their activity. Pupils will be rewarded for taking part, and the council is providing special shoelaces for each school.
This year’s Ride2School day takes place on Friday, March 13th. To register, visit the official Ride2School website or contact the City of Yarra Council for more information.Get a Free Quote for Posters
