Aspiring dancers and choreographers residing in the Abbotsford area will be well-served soon by a workshop orchestrated by the Youth Dance Makers Initiative.
The Youth Dance Makers Initiative is based in Melbourne and was created specifically to give young people the opportunity to dance with established choreographers in a safe, inclusive and non-judgemental space. According to the organisers, helping to nurture young dance talent and choreography is key, with no need for the stress that can be caused by highly competitive competitions.
Projects tend to be short, often no longer than a week, allowing for a greater reach of young talent.
At the Ctrl + Alt + Create event at the Abbotsford Covent, young people will come together to learn from local choreographers, including Kimball Wong, Lana Sprajcer and Tomas Arroquero. At the end of the workshop, there will be a half hour public performance to showcase the skills learned to family and friends.
Art projects like this one within a community are often advertised locally by materials produced at local Print shops.
Ctrl + Alt + Create is taking place on 12 and 13 January, from 9.30 am until 5 pm each day. The venue is the Oratory at Abbotsford Convent, which can be found at 1 St Heliers Street in Abbotsford. The cost of the course is $65 for the two days.Get a Free Quote for Print
