Richmond Kindergarten is receiving a major upgrade that includes new facilities to provide for a boost in capacity, as well as the establishment of a kindergarten specifically designed for three-year-olds. In addition to a kindergarten room, an upgrade to the space plus a new community room are also part of the project along with landscaping to outdoor spaces and playgrounds.
Yarra City Council provided $2 million, and a further $500,000 was contributed by the State Government to fund the project, which is part of a move to transition and integrate the kindergarten, Stables and Cubby House, known as the Chas Farquhar community hub, into a place offering families a range of services.
In a statement, Mayor Wade said the kindergarten is a facility Yarra families will welcome with open arms, adding:
“With the completion of this project, we will see more kindergarten places available for local families, and importantly, the introduction of a three-year-old kinder. We’re excited to deliver this new, accessible, inclusive and sustainable space to the local community.”
Flyer printing campaigns within the local area are often rolled out to make families aware of new opportunities that can benefit their children, such as the three-year-old kindergarten.
The latest facility upgrades are environmentally sustainable and include various energy-efficient features ranging from LED lighting to solar panels.
