Visit Melbournes festival for Francophiles
The Paris to Provence Festival will take place from November 25-27 at Como House in Melbourne. Como House will be set up like an “idyllic French Village” and visitors will “smell, touch, taste all that embodies France”; admission is $15 a day, $10 for National Trust members and free for children under 17.
The festival, which was held at Abbotsford Convent last year, will feature celebrity chefs such as Philippe Mouchel and Jerome Tremoulet, cooking demonstrations, caviar and champagne. Local printing companies have most likely been busy printing up French flags, French-language banners and posters and enticing menus for the festival.
There will be door prizes such as hotel stays in Sydney and Melbourne, gourmet food packages, or a private Crepe Party for you and 40 of your friends. In addition, there will also be seminars on French topics, cocktails, roaming mimes, live statues, organ music, magicians, artists of all kinds, French High Tea, face painting and Can Can dancers; basically all the best of what is French. It will be like being transported to France for three days.
There is much to be recommended about the French way of life; the food, the wine, the music. This festival is a Francophile’s dream come true in the heart of Melbourne; after attending this event you will either have to book a trip of your own to France or you will be happy with this little bit of France in your own backyard which will last you until next year’s festival.
