The Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, one of the city’s biggest events, is only a couple of months away with at least 200 events being planned for this year’s proceedings.
Fashion Week, which is now in its 18th year, attracts more than 100,000 people to the city, which makes it an ideal opportunity for business owners in nearby suburbs such as Abbotsford to get in on the action, particularly shops, bars and restaurants. Last year’s event is estimated to have injected at least $5million into the local economy.
The event showcases Australian, and in particular Melbournian, designers with established designers showing alongside those new to the fashion scene, including student designers.
As well as the main shows, the programme also includes shows around Melbourne city, such as beauty demonstrations and workshops, along with special evening events in local bars and restaurants. For those working in the fashion, design or retail sectors, there are also opportunities to get up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations through a series of business breakfasts with leading industry insiders.
To take advantage of the extra visitors in and around the city, business owners could think about flyer printing to promote their businesses, especially if they are in the retail or entertainment sector. Business owners should also think about business card printing before fashion week starts in order to be fully prepared for networking opportunities.
Melbourne Spring Fashion Week runs from Monday, September 3 to Sunday, September 9. To find out more, visit the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week website.
