A Ceilidh is a lively Gaelic event, which historically would have included music, stories, poetry and dancing. A Ceilidh today normally involves Scottish style dancing, which groups of people perform formulaic moves, steps, routines and formations. A caller issues directions, thus the event tends to be light-hearted, energetic and fun for all the family, with no experience strictly necessary as there will always be someone to follow.
Often accompanied by Gaelic folk music, the event in Abbotsford will be ably assisted by the popular and lively award-winning Melbourne Scottish Fiddle Club. The members will be playing a mix of modern and more traditional music that will encourage everyone to be on their feet and join in. A recent reviewer said that a Ceilidh was:

A Ceilidh will be held on Friday 27th June at 7pm at Collingwood Town Hall on Hoddle Street in Abbotsford. Tickets cost $30 for adults, with concessions for youngsters. This is part of the Melbourne 25 Tartan Festival.
