What's Happening in Abbotsford, VIC…

New boats to be shown at Melbourne show

Melbourne’s boating and fishing enthusiasts are gearing up for a weekend of fun when the city’s Boat Show takes place this week.

Among the main attractions will be new vessels from Australia and around the world, as well as the latest marine technology. Every budget will be catered for, with everything from small tin boats to luxury cruisers on show, along with a range of jet skis and wake boats.

While some visitors may be tempted to make a purchase on the day, others will want to think more before they make a final decision and catalogue printing will be used to allow those people take information home to think things over.

As well as the exhibitor’s stands, visitors from Abbotsford will find plenty of entertainment on the main stage. Live demonstrations will include advice on which type of boat to buy and the best equipment to take on a sailing trip. There will also be prizes given away regularly during the event.

A special fun fishing show will keep children entertained while adults will enjoy the simulators, which recreate the experience of being part of a crew on a small boat and sailing on the bridge of a giant ship.

The coastguard will also be on hand, offering training and testing for boating licences.

The event will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and starts at 10:00am this Friday. The show runs until 7:00pm on Monday. For more information, visit the official Melbourne Boat Show website.
