What's Happening in Abbotsford, VIC…

Mindful music accompanies yoga in Abbotsford

Yoga enthusiasts and those who would like to have a go at the practice in the Abbotsford area might be intrigued to know about a yoga class accompanied by live cello music, designed to help soothe, stretch and relax the attendees.

Cello Yoga has been running at the Abbotsford Convent for almost a year and has been host to over 1000 yogis during that time. The classes start with a reflective practice led by Michelle Li. This transitions to a live cello performance by Conrad Hamill. The music is specially composed and is designed to serenade, support meditation, and help to guide breathwork and establish connection with the self.

Hamill is an Australian classically-trained cellist and composer. Branching out, he has been creating meditative, reflective pieces since 2019. In 2020, he presented a TedX talk in Sydney on his passion, the connections between music, movement and the mind.

Local poster printing is often the way in which specialised interest groups advertise within the community.

Cello Yoga is taking place on Sunday 23rd June at 3 until 4.30pm. The location is The Oratory, Abbotsford Convent, 1 St Heliers Street, Abbotsford, VIC 3067. Tickets cost $35. Attendees should bring paper, a pen and a mat, and dress in comfortable clothes. Beginners are welcome. This is one of a series of events.
