Locals to help shape future of Cremorne

Residents of Abbotsford and across the City of Yarra are being invited to have input into a draft proposal focusing on the future development and growth of Cremorne.

The City has put together a draft UDF (Urban Design Framework) for Cremorne, which seeks to shape its future, adding to the already established vision of the Cremorne Place Implementation Plan. The draft plan has come together during the past few years and is supported by local business and community feedback, as well as technical expert advice.

According to a Council spokesperson, the draft UDF proposes actions that will help to maintain the area's residential precincts and key economic role, and identifies planning controls to safeguard heritage buildings and guide development, street improvements to make cycling and walking easier, public transport improvements, opportunities to introduce new public areas, and better river connections.

He said that Cremorne, which was recognised four years ago by the State Government as being an "enterprise precinct", a centre for prosperity, economic growth and innovation globally, is currently going through a rapid change and growth period. He added:

"The draft UDF aims to build on the things that workers, residents and visitors love about the area and strives to make them better."

Flyer printing campaigns have often assisted in heightening awareness of feedback opportunities such as the draft UDF in Yarra.

The deadline for feedback is 9:00 am on December 12.
