VECCI, located in East Melbourne, is presenting Fast Forward, a speed networking event, on July 28. Speed networking is really taking hold internationally and events such as this are becoming more frequent. Business people in the suburb of Abbotsford who plan to attend will be ordering the printing of Business Cards to hand out at this event.
Fast Forward is limited to 70 participants and costs $44 for VECCI members and $48 for non-members; canapes, wine, beer, and soft drinks will be provided. Also, no more than two people from each company can attend. To get people in the mood to network there will be a group exercise.
VECCI (The Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce) has listed the 5 golden rules of speed dating:
1. Bring at least 50 Business Cards to hand out to those you meet
2. Set objectives of what you want to discuss and accomplish
3. Listen to what others are saying to you. In other words, stop talking once in a while
4. Prepare and practice a 2-minute “elevator pitch.”
5. Follow up with those you meet
Speed networking is much like speed dating. You have a limited amount of time to sit and talk with a person before you are forced to move on to the next person.
