Council seeks working group for Edinburgh Gardens

Expressions of Interest are being called for from community representatives in Abbotsford and across the City of Yarra who want to join the Edinburgh Gardens Working Group.

The group is being established due to feedback from the community. In a statement, the council stated the group's purpose is to:

“Advise and inform Council on future management of the Gardens in peak periods over summer and public holidays.”

To this end, the council wants to hear a range of diverse opinions from throughout the community and from the main user groups. Representation from all age groups is also being sought for the group, which is to include members of sport clubs in the area, local residents, the primary school at Fitzroy North and casual users of the park.

In addition, Councillors Wade, Stone and O'Brien will be in the working group, which is expected to get together once a month between July and October. It is anticipated that meetings will be held in the Community Room at Edinburgh Gardens, or, alternatively, online.

Flyer printing campaigns have often been used to spread the word about opportunities like this within the local community.

An Expression of Interest form is available on the council’s website for anyone from the community interested in joining the working group and having a say on the garden’s future management. Submissions will be received until 5pm on June 25.
