A form of dumpling exists in many cookery traditions. It is a comfort food, usually steamed, and stuffed with delicious fillings, suitable for meat lovers and vegetarians alike. The class will be attended by a professional chef, who will also demonstrate how to make decorative folds in the dumplings.
At the Dumpling Making Party, participants will enjoy a free welcome drink before learning how to make dough suitable for Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese dumplings. This is a hands-on experience, so there will be plenty of room for trial and error. Then, in small, convivial groups, participants will share and eat the dumplings they have made. There will be plenty of dumplings to take home and share with friends and family, plus ideas for lots of fillings for dumplings made at home.
A recent reviewer enthused:
“…a really enjoyable afternoon, thanks to the friendly and professional teaching style. I felt practically professional by the end.”
Dumpling recipes are likely to be produced and distributed using local printing services.
The Dumpling Making Party takes place on 22nd October, from 10am until midday. The venue is Otao Kitchen Cooking School, 393 Victoria Street, VIC 3067. Tickets cost from $74.73.
