Clifton Hill residents opportunity to visit unique exhibition
Residents of Clifton Hill are invited to attend “I’ll Show You The Way” – a new exhibition of hand-stitched artworks exploring signage, language and messages inside the City of Yarra.
Michelle Hamer’s works were created in the current period of economic and global uncertainty, and they aim to highlight the political and social changes this uncertainty has caused both locally and internationally.
I’ll Show You The Way shows the audience a new way of looking at signs and provides viewers with an alternative way of connecting with these familiar messages. The handmade method of recreating the signs pulls into focus their messages and slows down their usual fast-paced nature.
Works from Hamer are featured in permanent collections in the Gippsland Art Gallery, National Gallery of Victoria, Warrnambool Art Gallery and many private collections around the world. She has worked as an Artist in Residence in places including the Australian Tapestry Workshop and the Millay Colony of the Arts in New York.
Galleries will often use printing services, including flyer printing, to promote their new exhibitions and the artists involved in creating the displayed works.
The exhibition will be available for viewing from early December as the City of Melbourne begins to reopen after the COVID-19 closures. For more information and for opening hours, see the Yarra Libraries website.
