Clifton Hill invited to view isolation portraits

Residents of Clifton Hill have the opportunity to view a series of isolation portraits taken by photographer Bri Hammond of residents in the Yarra City Council area during lockdown.

Those featured in the exhibition are shown at home during Melbourne’s COVID-19 lockdown, and are captured looking out through windows and from hallways and doorways, all from an appropriate distance.

Those depicted also shared with the photographer their experiences during lockdown and their resilience in the current circumstances. The exhibition offers an opportunity to get to know these residents and appreciate how other people are dealing with the lockdown.

Hammond took many of the photos in Melbourne’s public housing areas, and she stated:

“I think that it’s important to share the stories from the incredible individuals that live in public housing.”

‘Isolation Portraits’ is funded by the Yarra City Council’s Creative Community COVID-19 Quick Response Grants, and is a joint initiative with the Collingwood Neighbourhood House and Belgium Avenue House. Councils supporting art events and exhibitions will often use flyer printing as a way to distribute relevant information across various facilities, such as libraries and public spaces.

The exhibition is available on Hammond’s website until Wednesday, November 25 and will also form part of another virtual exhibition planned for later in the year in the Collingwood Underground Car Park.
