The City of Yarra Council is holding an open day at its Clifton Hill depot so that residents can come and see how the council carries out many of its functions.
Visitors will be able to learn about waste management and recycling, road maintenance, the city’s parks and gardens, and urban agriculture.
There will be a series of stations where different topics will be covered. Attendees will be able to find out what actually happens to their waste and recycling after it has been collected and have their recycling questions answered.
There will be a graffiti workshop, explaining how to remove graffiti from walls and fences. The urban agriculture facilitator will conduct a planter box demonstration and there will be an opportunity to find what all the different machines used in road-building and maintenance do.
Council staff will be on hand to answer any questions and to talk about projects being planned for the coming year and any innovations the council is introducing. A sausage sizzle, including vegetarian and halal options, will also be held.
Councils and other organisations frequently use brochure printing services to help keep residents informed about local issues, events and changes to regulations.
The open day will be held on Saturday 30th March from 11am to 3pm at the City Works Depot, 168 Roseneath St, Clifton Hill.
