C3 at the Abbotsford Convent

The Abbotsford Convent is home to many artistic studios and galleries. One of those is the c3 Contemporary Art Space, a three gallery space which provides display space for local artists and artisans. One recent exhibition highlighted Postcards and how they are used to enhance reality. While the printing of Postcards seems to have declined with the advent of digital cameras, they still help us to remember places we have visited.

"innovative and engaging approach to the presentation of contemporary exhibitions."




One of the three galleries, the Project Room recently presented a show called Postcard by Greg Penn. It was used to highlight



"perception and memory and the fundamental problems associated with depicting reality."




Other exhibits in the other galleries included on on Ikebana, one about Jocale and one about landscape paintings.

The Abbotsford Convent was formerly the Convent of the Good Shepherd. It is now home to many organizations and events. For example, there is a Sunday market every week called the Shirt and Skirt Market, the Mercator Studios is a working artists studio, there are regular art therapy courses and workshops and a restaurant that holds regular markets, workshops and classes.

The Abbotsford Convent has become the home for the arts in the Melbourne area, it's historic and religious buildings have been repurposed to provide the people of Abbotsford with a place to visit where they can go to learn about the artistic process and get to know some of their local artists.
