Ballet to be performed under candlelight in Abbotsford

Residents of Abbotsford can experience the combination of ballet and candlelight at Collingwood Town Hall in April.

Arguably one of the best-known popular ballets, Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, is danced and enjoyed the world over. Additional to the programme are excerpts from the Russian maestro’s Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker Suite. These have some ballet accompaniment, with all music played and danced under candlelight in the hope of creating an evening that is soothing, atmospheric and memorable.

Professional music is provided by the Invictus Quartet and the ballet dancers are Ruth Austin and Heidi Zolker. The programme includes significant pieces from the ballets with the addition of the dancers for some of the movements. The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, from The Nutcracker Suite, will no doubt be one of the most recognised and anticipated ballet pieces during the evening.

Programmes to accompany performances like this are often produced and distributed by local printing services, giving attendees something to remember the show by.

Candlelight: Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and More featuring Ballet is taking place at Collingwood Town Hall, 140 Hoddle Street, Abbotsford, VIC 3067. It will be on Saturday, April 13, with shows at 6:30pm or 8:30pm. Tickets are available from $38. Seating is first come, first served.
