Awards recognise top sports achievers

Victorians, including Clifton Hill residents, have been invited to nominate grassroots volunteers, coaches and competitors as well as elite performers to contest this year’s Victorian Sports Awards.

The highly-respected awards are presented jointly by Vicsport and the state government and are aimed at all levels of sporting involvement, incorporating everything from local council and club sports participants to teams and individuals. Tourism, Sport and Major Events Minister Martin Pakula added:

“These awards recognise local heroes as well as our world-beaters and that’s the great thing about the Victorian Sport Awards. It’s important that we celebrate the people who do all the work behind the scenes – they deserve their moment in the spotlight as much as anyone.”

Pakula said the notable difference with the Victorian Sport Awards is that they provide a great opportunity to recognise excellence at all levels of sport whether it is in the local community or on the international stage.

Victoria’s 2019 Sport Awards feature 19 categories ranging from Volunteer of the Year to Female and Male Athlete of the Year, respectively. Events such as this sometimes use brochure printing to give attendees an easy to read guide to the event, which holds information such as a timetable and a list of nominees.

Nominations for this year’s awards must be submitted by November 30. Further information is available on the Vicsport website, where nominations are made.
