Families with children in the Abbotsford area might be keen to take advantage of alternative art experiences at the Abbotsford Convent in October.
Riding on the success of last year’s Fringe experience, this year the Melbourne Fringe returns to Abbotsford Convent with a variety of events and experiences to suit all audiences. In particular, there is an event called Land of the Lost, which is particularly aimed at young people.
Land of the Lost invites children to contemplate the world of lost things, helping to bring art-work, storytelling and ritual to life in the form of an immersive experience as they consider the narrative of items that are lost. Little ones will be encouraged to join in with improvisation where appropriate.
Land of the Lost is brought to the Fringe by Sue Giles who is a Theatre Director with much experience of working with and for young people. Joining Giles is Hannah Vrijoenhoek, an Artist Educator in Theatre, from The Netherlands, who brings an environmental sustainability to her work.
Local events are often highlighted within the community by advertisements as a result of brochure printing.
Fringe 2024: Land of the Lost, takes place from 8th to 19th October at The Oratory in Abbotsford Convent, 1 St Heliers Street, Abbotsford, VIC 3067. On various days, time slots are 10.30am and 1.30pm. There is a registration fee of $5.
