Salisbury South youth enjoy VR design session

Those aged eight to thirteen and living in the area of Salisbury South can enjoy a session where they help design a playground and then get to play in it, owing to the clever technology of Virtual Reality.

During the event, organised by the Salisbury Library Service, the participants get to use 3D modelling tools in order to design a playground. Examples of leisure areas in the imagined park might include a trampoline, a giant sandcastle, a pool, splash areas and hidden tunnels. The building experience will also teach the youngsters about sustainable builds, safety and the importance of accessibility for all.

Once the VR modelling is complete, the technology will allow the young designers to step into the area they have designed so that they can experience their designs and see if these live up to expectation.

Community services such as libraries will often use poster printing as a means of advertising events that will have broad appeal within the local area.

The VR Playground Architects sessions are taking place on Fridays 16th and 23rd January in the Helen Barnes Room, Salisbury Community Hub, Salisbury. There will be two sessions each day; from 11.30am until 1pm and 2pm until 3.30pm. The cost is $5. Under thirteens should have an adult that remains in the building for the duration of the session.
