Harmony Week celebration to take place near Salisbury South

Harmony Week is being celebrated in Salisbury this month, taking the form of a vibrant, multi-cultural festival. All are welcome to attend.

Harmony Week is an Australian Government initiative. Led by the Department of Home Affairs, it has been in operation since 1999. It encompasses childcare settings, schools, churches, community groups, businesses and various government agencies. It is about celebrating the vibrant multicultural society, embracing inclusivity, diversity and respect for all.

During the Salisbury celebration, there will be market stalls, cultural performances and live music. There will also be a community parade, which all are welcome to join. Wearing traditional dress is encouraged, or else a dash of orange to show support for Harmony Week.

Harmony Week is also supported by the Australian Refugee Association (ARA), which is a not-for-profit organisation that helps migrants live, work, settle and enjoy life in their new surroundings. The head office is in Salisbury, and the organisation has been active since 1975. It was originally known as the Indo-China Refugee Association (ICRA).

Signage to draw attention to stalls and activities can be professionally produced by using local printing services.

The Harmony Week Community Celebration is taking place on 20 March, from 10 am until 2 pm. The venue is the Salisbury Civic Plaza (Inparrinthi Kumangka), Church Street, Salisbury. It is free to attend and suitable for all age groups.
