Residents of Salisbury South will soon have an opportunity to get their hands dirty and help their local environment through a native forest replanting project being run by the City of Salisbury Council.
Funded by the South Australian Department for Infrastructure and Transport’s Open Space and Places for People Grant Program, the project aims to replant 10,000 native trees along the Little Parra river corridor. A total of $400,000 has been put towards the project, with over $65 million in funding having been allocated by the program to 37 different projects across the state.
Seeking to provide additional canopy cover and preserve natural habitats for local wildlife, the Salisbury project leaders are planning to run a series of planting events open to volunteers from the end of May through to National Tree Day in August. Community projects such as this can benefit from flyer printing to advertise and garner interest from potential volunteers.
The project will be running a total of six planting events, but spaces for participants are limited to 40 people per session due to COVID restrictions, so interested parties will need to be quick to reserve their spaces.
The first two sessions are planned for Saturday, 22nd May, with volunteers asked to meet at John Harvey Oval, Salisbury Park. Further information and the links to book participant spaces are available from the City of Salisbury website.
