Readers in the Salisbury South area might be interested to attend a free event locally, where an award-winning writer is in conversation with a local author.
Holden Sheppard’s first novel was Invisible Boys, which was adapted into a television series, and also won the City of Fremantle Hungerford Award in 2018, as well as the WA Premier’s Prize for an Emerging Writer in 2019. His second novel, The Brink, won Indie Book YA Award in 2023 and the Ena Noel Award in 2024.
His third novel, the King of Dirt, is a gritty novel about Jack, who returns to his estranged home for a wedding and finds that he may have fathered a child with a teenage girlfriend. The novel explores whether Jack can open himself up to fatherhood and connection and change his self-destructive ways.
The interviewer is local author Robert Tilsley, who founded Black Sky Books and promotes alternative voices.
After the conversation, there will be a question and answer session and an opportunity to have books signed.
