Residents of Salisbury South are set to reap the benefits of significant upgrades being planned for the nearby Salisbury Recreation Precinct thanks to new State Government funding.
Providing over $7 million toward the redevelopment as part of the Local Government Infrastructure Partnership Program, these upgrades are part of a state-wide stimulus package. For the people of Salisbury, the upgrades are expected to provide more than 90 construction jobs and 27 ongoing employment opportunities once completed.
Originally constructed in the 1960s, the Salisbury Recreation Precinct currently consists of an outdoor aquatic facility and tennis courts, and it is presently restricted to use during the summer months. It is the intention of the Salisbury City Council to use the funding to help transform the precinct into a year-round, 365-day recreation and wellness centre.
Major redevelopment projects such as this can benefit from flyer printing to assist in communicating the impact of ongoing works to local residents.
As part of the planned improvements, the Recreation Precinct is planning on constructing three new indoor pools, water play structures, playground equipment, new tennis clubrooms and a café to service the facility’s visitors.
Construction on the new project is expected to begin within the next 12 months, and according to State Treasurer Rob Lucas, it is to be completed within a timeframe of two years.
