Residents in Salisbury South have an opportunity to learn ways to help protect themselves from scams and fraud in a new expo being hosted as part of National Scam Awareness Month.
According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, Australians lost a record $851 million to scammers throughout 2020, and this event aims to provide residents with a better understanding of how to protect themselves from falling prey to common traps and schemes.
With the increasing reliance on digital technology, scammers are constantly becoming more innovative in their attempts to gain access to people’s personal information and financial resources. Offering the unique opportunity to speak directly with experts from government and community organisations, the expo will also feature information stalls, videos and games. Community-based expos and workshops such as these can benefit from flyer printing to allow attendees to retain key information and contact details.
In addition to the expo booths running throughout the day, the event will also feature two forums designed to offer attendees practical tips on how to best protect themselves and their information.
Organised by the City of Salisbury Council, the Scam Awareness Forum and Expo is planned to run on Friday, 24th September from 10am to 2:30pm at the Salisbury Community Hub on Church Street. Reservations are essential and can be made via the City of Salisbury Council website.
